An incredible achievement by one of our own

This week, Jack McVicar completed the full West Highland Way – an incredible 96 miles over just 2 days.

What makes this achievement even more special is that Jack is fundraising for causes close to his heart, splitting the money he raises between cancer charities and the Strathendrick RFC U18 Australia Tour 2027.

The challenge was far from straightforward. Over the course of 96 miles, Jack experienced the famous Scottish phenomenon of all four seasons in a single day – sunshine, wind, rain and everything in between. As if that wasn’t enough, he also endured the relentless onslaught of Highland midges, which seemed determined to accompany him every step of the way!

On Tuesday evening, many of Jack’s teammates and coaches joined him for the final stretch from Balmaha to Milngavie, helping keep spirits high, sharing stories and supporting him through the closing miles of an unforgettable journey.

To cover 96 miles on foot takes determination, resilience, courage and an extraordinary mindset. To do most of it solo in just two days is something very very special. Jack has demonstrated all of these qualities and more. He has represented himself, his family, and our club with immense pride.
