Charity and other Community Work done by the boys

We have been very lucky to grow up surrounded by supportive and positive families who have helped us be the best young people we can be. However, we are of the belief that we should also put something back and support the wider community and help make the lives of others better or easier. Here are just some examples of the things we have recently got involved in.

Charity Fundraising

Since the start of 2026, the team has raised money for charities as well as their own trip of a lifetime. Here is a brief summary of what they have achieved so far:

Running the West Highland Way for Cancer Research

Over the course of 15th & 16th June 2026, one of our players Jack ran the 96 mile West Highland Way solo in just 31 hours. This was an incredible personal achievement which was honoured by his team mates joining him for the last 10 miles.

Partnering with corporate sponsors to support rugby charities

In pre-arranged agreements with our incredibly generous sponsors, we donate 10% of all corporate sponsorship to charity. Our suggested charities are rugby related and of international renown, each having an incredibly powerful and positive impact on people across the world and beyond the realms of just rugby. Should a specific charity be of significant interest to a potential sponsor then we will consider alternative charities to support.

My Name'5 Doddie is a charity raising awareness and funds to support people affected by motor neurone disease (MND). It focuses on improving quality of life, supporting families, promoting understanding of MND, and helping fund research into treatments and, ultimately, a cure. The charity also encourages communities to get involved and make a difference.

So far the rugby team and partnering sponsors have raised:

£1300 for My Name'5 Doddie

Registered Charity: SC047871

Hearts in Rugby Union is an Australian charity supporting rugby players who have suffered severe, life-changing injuries while playing the game. It provides financial and practical assistance to injured players experiencing hardship, helping with equipment, mobility, rehabilitation and everyday needs.

So far the rugby team and partnering sponsors have raised:

£1250 for Hearts in Rugby Union

Registered Charity: 99 641 395 913

Alongside our own fundraising, we have also supported four different hospice charities in Scotland...

CHAS supports children with life-shortening conditions and their families, providing specialist care, respite, emotional support and precious memories.

PPW Hospice provides specialist care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses, helping patients and families through treatment, end-of-life care and bereavement.

Siobhan’s Legacy of Love supports children with complex health conditions. Funds raised help provide hippotherapy, using horse riding to support children’s physical, emotional and sensory development.

Strathcarron Hospice provides specialist care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses, helping patients and families manage symptoms, improve quality of life and receive compassionate end-of-life care.

So far the rugby team has raised:

£100 for these children's hospices in Scotland

Registered charity numbers: SC019724, SC012372, SC007856 & SC006704

Other community work completed by players

Volunteer Refereeing in local Minis Rugby Tournament

In April 2026 a group of our players took time out of studying for their school exams to referee in on of Scotland's largest Mini-Rugby Tournaments.

Each player refereed about 6 shortened games on a glorious day of rugby, learning so many new life skills on the way.

Looking after our neighbours

In the winter of 2025 an elderly man living on his own in the community was unable to return home from hospital unless his house was re-arranged to accommodate him living downstairs full time. Four boys in the team spent evenings after school moving heavy furniture up and down the stairs, creating a living space for Mr H to return home and recuperate. To this day, Mr H still refers to the fact that these boys "gave me my life back".

Assisting other community events

September 2025 saw the launch of the inaugural Balfron Book Festival. This was a fledgling community event organised my a small group of local people. When we were approached to ask if we could volunteer our time to help set up gazebos and move furniture, we were more than happy to offer our services for free.

Car Parking Attendants

When a local agricultural show was desperately seeking people to help park cars for the 5000 expected visitors, our boys were the ones to step forward and volunteer. Despite the wet weather and muddy conditions, they did a great job of getting all the cars, tractors, lorries and trailers all safely parked on site.

Coaching younger players

A big part of the team's commitment to the club is giving back their time and knowledge to the younger players.

All the players have at some point coached or refereed in younger age groups. The younger players are always inspired by our enthusiasm and energy, and the coaches appreciative of our input and contribution.

This photo was taken from a recent event where a group of our players helped run a Minis Rugby Tournament after school for local primary children. Despite the weather conditions, these four boys helped make it a massive success for so many young players.
